invisible tape extensions
Invisible Tape-in hair extensions are a popular, semi-permanent option for adding length, volume, or thickness to natural hair. These extensions are applied by sandwiching small sections of your natural hair between two strips of adhesive tape that are lightweight, secure, and discreet. The extensions are designed to lie flat against the scalp, making them a great option for a comfortable, natural look.
- Those with fine or thin hair: The lightweight tape strips are gentle on natural hair, and because they don’t add too much bulk, they are a good choice for people with finer hair who want a natural, voluminous look without feeling weighed down.
- Invisible tapes can be coloured to the root: If you have natural root stretch these are a great option as you can custom colour where they are attached so they will blend perfectly with your root colour.
- Those who prefer discreet extensions: Invisible Tape-ins are known for being more discreet than some other extension types, as they are applied flat against the scalp and are less noticeable.
- Suitable for very short hair: If you have very short hair around the face, hairline or part this is a great option to get close to these section and still be very discreet in the hair.
- If you suffer from headaches/migraine's: Tape extensions are in my opinion the most flexible and comfortable option and can be easily applied 1cm off the scalp if needed to avoid a tight feeling straight after application.
- If you naturally have extremely oily hair or spend a lot of time in the sauna tape extensions may not be the most suitable option due to the adhesive which can slip when oil is applied.
- Limitations on Shampooing Hair Care: You'll need to be cautious when washing your hair. Avoid applying conditioner directly to the roots, as it can weaken the adhesive and cause the extensions to slip.
- Tape in extensions do need to be blowdried at the roots after washing as leaving them to naturally dry after every wash can lead to a tacky feel at the attachment or slippage.

Beaded Weft extensions
Beaded weft extensions are a type of semi-permanent hair extension where wefts (strips of hair) are attached to natural hair using small, discreet beads or rings. The process involves placing small sections of natural hair into the bead, which is then clamped shut to secure a base in a neat row then the extension “weft” in sewn in. Beaded wefts offer a seamless, natural look without the use of glue, tape, or heat, making them a popular choice for those seeking a long-lasting, low-maintenance extension option.
- People with medium to thick hair: Beaded weft extensions work best for individuals with medium to thick hair since the beads need a good amount of natural hair to blend well with the wefts. They can also work on fine hair but can be limited to the amount applied.
- Those who prefer non adhesive option: As weft extensions are applied with beads and stitching only there is no glues or adhesive used which can be a great alternative.
- Seamless wefts are designed to lay flat against the scalp, creating a seamless and discreet appearance.
- More natural hair is left out: As these are applied in rows there is more “free hair” with this application.
- If you have very fine hair you will be limited with the amount you are able to apply and can be more ‘bulky” compared to other methods
- If you like to wear you hair in a slick bun - this can cause tension/hair loss on your natural hair at the starting points of the weft when tied back to tightly to often.
- Wefts cannot be placed to close to the hairline where they hair is very fine - this can cause damage to the natural hair - so if your hair is very short or you would like to fill in around the face you may need to add a different method for just around the face/very top layer.
- Weft application can feel a little tight on the scalp for some people for the first couple of days.

Micro bead Extensions
Micro bead extensions, also known as micro link or micro ring extensions, are a type of semi-permanent hair extension where individual strands of hair are attached to small sections of natural hair using tiny beads or rings. The beads are clamped onto the natural hair using pliers, securing the extension in place without the need for glue, tape, or heat. This method creates a very natural, seamless look since each bead is small and discreet.
- People with medium hair: Micro bead extensions are best suited for individuals with medium thickness hair because the beads need to grip a decent amount of natural hair.
- No Heat, Glue, or Tape: Since no heat or adhesives are involved.
- Can work well with more textured/wavy hair types as the individual strands can mimic the natural hair pattern (if similar length)
- Micro bead extensions can be easier to wash/blow dry being individual strands.
- If the natural hair is too fine or thin, the beads may not hold properly or may become noticeable.
- In general the beads stay in your hair for the whole duration of wear (when doing maintenance I don't completely remove and re apply) so can be difficult to see what your natural hair looks like underneath or trim/colour where the beads are applied.
- If you have finer/blonde hair after and would like foils through the back/side sections where the extensions have been applied - I recommend after removing extensions to wait 2 weeks before lightening where the extensions were applied to give the natural hair a rest and prevent damage.

In conclusion there are many pros and cons to each extension method. This largely comes down to
personal preference and once you have tried different methods you can see which works best for you.
If you have not worn hair extensions before I will talk to you in detail into which would be the best option.
